Principal's Corner

principal memo February 24

Dear Parents,

The principal's Memo is a great way to get information to our parents. The information is also available on the website at st-therese-school.com. Updates and calendar changes are listed in the "What's New?" section on the first page of the website.

Silent Auction
Silent Auction Tickets are available for $60. Join us for an unforgettable evening and dance the night away. We have a Live and Silent Auction. We need all of our school families to support our school's MAIN fundraiser. Have dinner, dance and buy a 50/50 raffle ticket. Everything that you bring in as a donation will be credited toward your fundraising. Use the donation forms as proof of a possible taxable donation. The money that you spend on auction items is also deducted from your fundraising total. Spend the $450 at the Silent Auction and bring home wonderful gift items in exchange for your donation. What a great idea - donate and get wonderful gift baskets in return.
This is for our children. The money raised helps to purchase educational materials. The Silent Auction and See's Easter Candies are the last big fundraisers of the year. Use these opportunities to raise the funds that you need to fulfill your contract.

Stations of the Cross
The 4th Grade class will present the Stations of the Cross tomorrow at 1:15. The schedule for our Masses and our Stations of the Cross is on our Saint Therese School website.

Christian Service Projects
There will be 2 special Christian Service Food Drives for Saint Therese Church during March. The first one will be on Wednesday, March 3rd. The children will earn a ‘homework pass' if they bring in food on that day. On March 31st, the children will have a "free dress" day if they bring in food for the food drive. Please help fill the church cupboards with food for Easter. Our local parish families receive the food that we collect during this time.

School Mass on March 5th
Our 4th grade students will be hosting the mass at 11:00 am on Friday, March 5th. Our choir will be singing at that mass.

Progress Reports
Progress reports will be sent home on Friday, March 5th for the students that are earning a C- or lower in any subject. Please sign the progress report and send it back to school so the teacher will know that you have received it. The purpose of the progress report is to alert parents that their students may be failing in an academic subject. A teacher can't give a failing grade on the report card if the student has not received a progress report to warn that a failing grade may be given.

Parent Council Meeting
On March 11th, there will be a parent council meeting in the Science Room at 6:00 pm. We will be discussing the March and April events.

Cash for Gold Fundraiser
We will be having a cash for gold event in the parish hall on Saturday, March 13th from 3:00pm - 6:00pm. Please RSVP to the school office by phone (626) 289-3364 or RSVP by email to thereseprincipal@aol.com. We need to know an approximate number of guests to have enough appraisers available to help with the event. Tell your friends and family that this is a fundraiser where they can earn money for themselves. The appraisers will give Saint Therese School a percentage of their profits. This is another win-win situation for our school families.

See's Candy Orders
Our See's Candy sale orders are due next Wednesday, March 3rd. Please meet that deadline to make it easier for our very own See's Easter Bunny. Fortunately the bunny has excel spreadsheets to make the ordering process as smooth as chocolate. The candy will be delivered to the school on Friday, March 26th.

School Holiday
Our faculty will be attending the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim on Friday, March 19th. This is an important inservice for our teachers.

Saint Joseph Project
Saint Therese School will be responsible for the refreshments that will be served after the mass on Tuesday, March 16th. The mass begins at 7:00 pm

Buck-a-Jeans Day
The 8th grade will be having a Buck-a-Jeans day to earn money toward their 8th grade activities on Saint Patrick's Day, Wednesday, March 17th. Wearing of the green is to be encouraged!

Thank you for all that you do to improve Saint Therese School!
