Dear Parents,

We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Thank you, for all the cards, gifts and good wishes.

 

Blast off into Summer Learning! Mrs. Lawson and I will be teaching summer schooll at the beautiful St. Joseph's Center in Alhambra. We will be teaching incoming K-3rd grades. Our focus will be on math, reading, writing and language skills. Classes begin on June 23 to July 18. For more information please contact Mrs. Lawson or Mrs. Lara.

First Grade News...

May 12, 2008

 

Our school Science Fair will be on Wednesday, May 21. I would like to encourage the first graders to participate. Projects may be simple science experiments, collections or displays. Children who participate will receive extra credit in science and they will present their projects to the class.

Progress reports will be sent home on Friday. If your child receives a progress report, please sign and send it back to class.

Spirit week begins on Monday of next week. Some of the activities will be dress alike day. Your child and his/her friends can dress the same. There will also be a Hawiian Day, Sports Jersey day, Crazy Hair/Clash Day and Class Color day. There will be information in this week's newsletter.

Our Parent Dinner Dance will be on May 30, 2008. Parents who have completed 50 or more service hours will be invited to attend.

All service hours need to be completed by May 15, 2008.

This week your child will be reading "Frog and Toad Together" by Arnold Lobel. The second story they will read is "Dragons and Giants".

This week's spelling words are: over, jumped, outside, place, happy, afraid, snake, book, together, loud.

Your child will have a religion test on chapter 15 this week. Please take the on-line test at www.faithfirst.com.

The children will have a test on money on Friday.
